Item, Inc was
founded in February of 1979 by Tim Rizer, a former sales
executive with Xerox and began doing business as one of the
first companies to buy and sell used and refurbished copier
The 1980's were a time of new electronic devices and one popular item was the Word Processor.
There were 47 different manufacturers of Word Processors including IBM, Wang and Xerox, and Item, Inc
was a major player in this burgeoning market until the Personal Computer generally replaced dedicated Word Processing equipment.
During the 1990's
many third party service entities began providing
alternatives to the manufacturer's own service operations,
to save money and have better service options available. Item, Inc formed sister
companies Consolidated Computer Services and Copy Fix, Inc
and hired the best technicians and technical support for
printers, copiers and other imaging systems. We hired Xerox technicians and
learned everything we could about Xerox products and how to
effectively repair them. Our technicians took all the
Authorized Training Classes, learned all the tricks to
repair most brands but focused on specializing on knowing
more about Xerox than anyone else. As we entered the new
millennium Item, Inc. widened its offerings and became a
source for service parts, technical support and customer
service for a broad range of manufacturers to include Xerox,
Dell, Lexmark, Samsung, Canon, Konica-Minolta, Oki Data,
Ricoh and more. We began working closely with
third party service providers, and even Authorized Service
entities that needed additional help and valued the unique
and specialized knowledge of products that Item, Inc. has
become well known for. With a growing
reputation as a knowledgeable vendor for parts, products and
service support offerings, Item, Inc sold off its service
companies and focused exclusively to helping others to grow
their service business.
We specialize in
giving customers what they wanted and when they needed it
and that included taking and shipping all orders same day
until 7:00 pm. Customers loved that we were
able to ship so late and coupled with our free technical
support the demand for our services continued to grow beyond
our facility's capacity.
Recently we purchased
a 4 acre, 70,000 sq. ft. warehouse and office building in
Woodbridge Virginia that will allow us to continue to grow
well into the future. We feel honored to have been
able to serve our customers for more than 35 years, proud
